Course Overview
The IAAP Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) Exam Preparation Program introduces participants to the CAP certification; including exam eligibility and requirements, and provides an extensive overview of each of the six CAP exam domains:
→ Organizational Communication (24%)
→ Business Writing and Document Production (22%)
→ Technology and Information Distribution (16%)
→ Office and Records Management (15%)
→ Event and Project Management (12%)
→ Operational Functions (11%)
The program is designed to prepare students to embark on a targeted course of study in anticipation of successful completion of the CAP exam.*
The CAP exam is offered twice annually, to both IAAP members and non-members.
The percentages represent the amount of content covered on the exam in that particular area.
Who Should Attend?
To be eligible for the CAP exam, you must meet one of the following education/experience criteria:

- “No college degree” – at least 4 (Four) years or 7 072 hours of relevant work experience is required
- “Associates, 2-year degree” – at 3 (Three) years or 5 304 hours of relevant work experience
- “Bachelors, 4-year degree” – at least 2 (Two) years or 3 536 hours of relevant work experience
Relevant work experience must include the majority of the following:

- Verbal and written communication with both internal and external clients
- Business writing, proofreading, editing
- Records Management
- Meeting planning, travel planning
- Project Management
- Human resource activities, hiring, compliance
- Budgeting, accounting functions
